Are you wild about LipSense by SeneGence? Think it might be a good idea to go from a SeneGence customer to a SeneGence distributor? Hang on there! My SeneGence MLM Review will give you important facts to help you decide. Let’s get started!
What is SeneGence
SeneGence is a multi-level marketing company that has been marketing cosmetics and skin care products since 1999. Founded by Joni Rogers-Kante, she is also the CEO and Chair of SeneGence. The company is privately held. The most recent information shows total revenue for the company at $4.5 million.
Headquartered in Lake Forest, California, SeneGence products are sold by independent distributors, called SeneSisters. The company’s products are available in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Are SeneGence Products Worth the Money?
I took a look at two SeneGence products that are comparable to another company’s products I currently use, SeneDerm Cleanser and VolumeIntense Waterproof Mascara.
I like the fact that the cleanser is formulated for four different skin types
- Normal to Dry
- Normal to Oily
- Oily to Acne
Like my favorite, it rinses off with water, and uses no detergents that can dry your face. This 4 ounce tube, which retails for $30, is on the high end for a cleanser. If you can get by with as little as their advertising promises, it may be a better value than it appears.
VolumeIntense Waterproof Mascara
This comes in two colors, and like my favorite mascara, it defines and extends lashes. It also promises not to run or flake.
At $28, this is more than I’m accustomed to paying for a quality mascara.
SeneGense seems to have a strong, loyal customer base. However, the products are definitely on the high end. This may be a problem as you build your own customer list.
The SeneGence MLM Opportunity
The SeneGence Independent Distributor Compensation Plan notes that there are two ways to make money as a SeneGence Distributor.
- Sales Income
- Commission Income
You can see the commission breakdown below. The PV they discuss stands for Point Value. The small print on the chart discloses that one PV equals ½ of 1 USD, or 50 cents.
As soon as you place an order, you become an Active distributor. Once you place at least a 300 PV product order, you become a Qualified distributor.
To remain active, and be eligible for commissions, you must place a minimum $200 qualifying order each month.
The serious money in an MLM comes from creating teams. It’s no different with SeneGence. Their structure allows you to earn commission for up to 5 downlines, or levels of teams. I’ve listed all 5 levels for you below:
- Line 1 – 10%
- Line 2 – 20%
- Line 3 – 30%
- Line 4 – 5% (Must meet eligibility qualifications.)
- Line 5 – 5% (Must meet eligibility qualifications.)
SeneGence products are sold individually and as collections. The product line consists of the following 12 categories.
- Skin Care
- SeneDerm Solutions
- SeneGence for Men
- Abundance Parfums
One of SeneGence’s best-sellers is their LipSense Line. Billed as liquid lip color, it promises to be waterproof, smear proof, and long-lasting.

Can You Make Money with SeneGence?
If you want to make what most people would consider an average full-time income with any MLM, you need to have a very clear understanding of what’s involved. You will need to:
- Be an excellent sales person.
- Be an excellent recruiter and trainer.
- Expect to recruit and train on a regular basis.
- Spend more than 40 hours per week working your business.
- Develop a tough skin.
At the beginning of the SeneGence Independent Distributor Compensation Plan, they have a paragraph that says, “Should a Genesence Distributor choose not to make on-the-spot product available for customers…” They’re talking about the system for placing customer orders.
You are not required to purchase inventory, but with wording like this, there seems to be a huge push for distributors to have lots of inventory available. This means a huge out-of-pocket cost on your part. Couple that with the requirement to place an order for 200 PV monthly to remain active, and that’s a big bite out of your earnings each month.
Build a Team
There are a number of distributor comments regarding how they were constantly being directed to build a team. Teams are where you and the people in your upline make the big money. It sounds fairly easy, but the requirements that must be met to qualify for these commissions are challenging. You’ll have to meet even more challenging requirements to earn the Group Sales Volume Bonus. Take a look at the Downline Commission Chart, and don’t forget the small print.
On average, half of all the people you sign up will be gone within the first 12 months. You will constantly need to recruit and train new people, plus continue the training for those who stay longer.
It’s going to be challenging to do much selling while you’re doing all that recruiting and training.
The reality of how much work is involved in getting an MLM business going and keeping it going, and the skills needed to make that happen, comes as a shock to most people.
Pros and Cons of SeneGence
- They’re been in business for over 20 years.
- Their products are good quality.
- The products are expensive.
- The Commission and Bonus structure seems severe.
- It’s an MLM, and the business model can change overnight.
If you take a look at the Glassdoor reviews from SeneGence distributors, you’ll see that only 42% would recommend the company to a friend. However, 76% do approve of the CEO. It’s important to know if distributors trust the leadership of the MLM. After all, these are the people making the decisions that directly affect you and your income.
One of the big selling points for an MLM is that you’re building your own business. No matter how much you’re told it’s your business, it’s not. You:
- Work to build a team.
- Work to replace those who drop out
- Keep them all trained.
What you don’t get to do is make any of the decisions that affect the direction taken by the company.
Of course, companies must protect themselves. But, who is going to protect you? You will not be included in these decisions.
Think it won’t be a problem?
Tell that to the Mary Kay distributors in Australia and New Zealand. In March 2020, Mary Kay closed up shop in both countries. Almost over-night, they put these distributors out of business.
